Transculture
Exhibition Dates: 27 Apr 2013 - 10 Jun 2013
The Transculture project by artist Volodymyr Kostyrko is primarily aimed at identifying and using artistic gestures to demonstrate and emphasize the need for freedom of creative thinking as such.
It is dedicated to going beyond cultural isolation at various levels: from language, traditions and nationality to stereotypes and prejudices of an individual. Despite the fact that the artist insists on the inclusion of his painting in a single European context, his works ironically develop a path between globalism and the color of local cultures, and this is a holy irony.
For the artist, it turns out that the whole world process and following it are not so important, nor is it preserving the peculiarity of the usual artistic environment, but the very possibility of freedom from one's own culture and its dictates. An example of the struggle against cultural stereotypes is the image of the artist in Volodymyr's works.
The artist not only paints pictures, he is also a living person: he may well turn out to be a scoundrel, a drunkard, and even a murderer.
