Oleksandr Anatoliiovych is not only one of the main artists of the Ukrainian New Wave, but also its creator in many ways. The artist's success came immediately.
He entered the history of Ukrainian contemporary art in the late 1980s as a leader of the Odesa “new wave” environment. On his initiative, dozens of art symposia, conferences, and plein airs of contemporary art were held in Odesa.
At the Republican Youth Exhibition in Kyiv in 1987, which marked the beginning of perestroika in Ukrainian art, the 26-year-old Roitburd became one of the “stars.”
